Backstory & Today ~

Starting in the hometown Meridian, Mississippi, Lang Holloman grew up with the arts as an integral part of his life. Meridian, MS is the hometown also of "The Father of Country Music" Jimmie Rodgers, Peavey Electronics Headquarters, Steve Forbet, and Sela Ward. Later in his young childhood, living in Winona, MS on the Eastern side of the Mississippi Delta, he grew a fondness for the Delta and Hill-country blues. Lang recalls listening to everything from southern soul, gospel, country, bluegrass, cajun zydeco, blues, and southern rock on the local radio stations. When he was 16, living in a small gulf coast town of Navarre, FL that he first picked up guitar from a friend who also shared a love of blues. In late 1994, Lang returned to Meridian, MS playing in a few original southern music style bands and playing in a church band of soul, country, and blues styling. " I think this is when I really learned hard work, to listen to everyone else musically, and know where I could fit into the overall sound with the instrument I was playing. That's also when I decided that original music was where I felt most comfortable in dedicating myself as an artist."

For the next two decades, Lang has worked with many original artists and bands as a multi-instrumentalist, collaborating songwriter, session musician, and live performing musician. His instrumentation includes being well versed as a slide guitar player, National resonators, acoustics, electrics, steels, upright bass, banjo, mandolin, and backup vocals. Having an experienced history of various styles of blues, americana, southern rock n' roll, bluegrass, jazz, outlaw country, gospel, soul, and songwriting; "Southern Heritage Music" is what he best describes as what his songs are as an artist style and form. Lang notes in reference to context of this album: "The songs, of this album 'Soul Bells', are works of non-fiction. They are songs/images/details/experiences that have direct connection to me. They are based on truth and honesty. With the masterful work of Anthony Crawford as the engineer, producer, and assisting multi-instrumentalist, along with Lauren Murphy's backing vocals...this album could not be what it is. This process has been a process of releasing control and letting it all happen freely."

With 22 years of experience, Lang has performed with and shared shows with the likes of Cyril Neville's The Royal Southern Brotherhood, Chris Thomas King (O' Brother Where Art Though), Buckwheat Zydeco, David Alan Coe, Asleep At The Wheel, and San Francisco's music scene performer now Mobilian Lauren Murphy. Lang has been on PBS, Mississippi PBS, NPR, CNN, Sirius XM, and countless festival/theater shows throughout the Southeastern US. Originally from Meridian, Mississippi, where the "Father of Country Music" Jimmie Rodgers was from, Lang continues living and revealing through music/songs what he has coined as the style of "Southern Heritage Music". 2016 saw great success with the release of the album "Soul Bells", recorded in Alabama at Admiral Bean Studios with Anthony Crawford (Neil Young, Dwight Yoakum, Steve Winwood, Sugarcane Jane, Willie Sugarcapps), regular solo/duo performances, and Gulf Coast Songwriter Festival songwriter/performer participant. 2018 continued with countless shows from duo to full band performances at iconic locations like LuLu's Destin (Jimmy Buffet's sister), Kimbro's Legendary Picking Parlor in Nashville, the very historic Temple Theatre in Meridian Mississippi for the Americana show Sucarnochee Revue hosted by Nashville row and Muscle Shoals songwriter/performer Jackie Jack White, singles song production at Anechoic Studios with Eric King (Todd Snider's engineer), and recording sessions for the next full-length album in full analog at Studio '78 with Adam Holt (engineer/producer) located outside of Mobile, Alabama.
